Planning guide

Write the one thing a customer should remember after seeing the display. If people already know the business but miss its entrance, ask for wording that helps identify the place. For a one-time event, prioritize the event name or purpose.

What to put in your brief

Give the message one job

Write a sentence for your team about what the display should accomplish. Then write the words you actually want printed. Keep internal instructions out of the artwork wording.

Keep permanent and temporary wording separate

Separate the business name or logo from dates, offers and product names you may replace. Ask the supplier which artwork options the proposed model supports before committing to a reusable design.

Review the proof in context

Read the proof at a small size, check spelling and contrast, and review each printed side. The supplier’s product guide describes vector files such as AI, EPS and PDF as preferred for custom artwork.
